Train Future Leaders for Energy in Cameroon
PROJECT PRESENTATION
FLEC is a program led by CECOSDA aiming to train 50,000 young people by 2027 in the fields of energy transition, solar installation, and green entrepreneurship. Faced with the urgent energy shortage in Cameroon, which hampers rural development and limits economic opportunities, CECOSDA believes that large-scale training of youth is the fastest and most sustainable solution to improve access to energy. Thanks to FLEC, new skills are emerging, local jobs are being created, and innovative solar solutions are appearing in communities.
Our ambition
- Equip young people with practical technical skills in solar and energy efficiency
- Encourage green entrepreneurship and the creation of local micro-enterprises
- Raise awareness among communities about sustainable energy solutions
- Create a pool of technicians and entrepreneurs capable of transforming the energy sector
A practice-oriented pedagogy
- Practical course of 120 hours with workshops, laboratories, and school projects
- Short and targeted training for quickly employable skills
- Project competitions to stimulate youth innovation, with prizes and support
- Follow-up of the courses to boost further studies and professional integration
Results already visible
- More than 3,500 young people trained
- 1,500 ideas materialized as functional prototypes
- Over 10 technical high schools involved
- Students from the University of Yaoundé I and the Polytechnic School already engaged

Ongoing project
1. Training 4,000 young people in the Central region of Cameroon (2025–2026)
- Objective - Train 4,000 young people in energy transition and solar basics to strengthen their technical skills and their capacity to meet electrification needs in priority areas.
- Target - 4,000 students and learners (technical high schools, scientific tracks, and polytechnic schools) during 2025–2026.
- Grant - €50,000
- Financial partner - Schneider Electric Foundation
- Implementation - CECOSDA, with support from the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE), CECOSDA Training, and Équitable Énergie.
- Importance - This project is the first step towards the overall goal of training 50,000 young people by 2027, already demonstrating the tangible impact of the FLEC program on the ground.
