The Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) is a Cameroonian association founded in 2012 by a multidisciplinary group of former classmates, led by two women. Passionate about sustainable development issues, the group decided to work together to contribute to creating a world where every young person and woman actively participate in environmental protection, enhance their autonomy, and help reduce poverty within their community.
Our vision is to become a leading NGO in the development of local solutions for a greener world, empowering women and young people. We aspire to have branch offices in all 10 regions of Cameroon and in every country of Central Africa, in order to have a significant impact on the sustainable development of the region.
The Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) is an environmental organization committed since 2012 to promoting an ecological transition that creates sustainable opportunities for youth and women. For a greener world, CECOSDA trains, encourages local innovation and green entrepreneurship, and raises awareness among populations about sustainable development challenges to promote concrete, environmentally friendly alternatives.
Some concrete initiatives of CECOSDA include awareness campaigns in schools and rural associations, organizing conferences on environmental challenges, and its social-purpose solar generator workshop under the brand Équitable Énergie, integrated into its training center approved by MINEFOP.
The Center also mobilizes community dynamics through the Women SolarDjangui Network, dedicated to empowering women in solar energy; the Equitable Energie brand for solar kit donations; the ECOPRENEURS 237 Network, which brings together green entrepreneurs in Cameroon; and the JCAC Network of Community Journalists, engaged in raising awareness of environmental issues among local populations.
CECOSDA's mission is to raise awareness and educate on environmental issues, promote equitable access to energy, empower women and young people, strengthen community journalism, encourage green entrepreneurship and implement projects for sustainable and inclusive development, thus contributing to a more equitable and environmentally friendly society.
CECOSDA is based on seven core values whose initials together spell the word RESPECT.
With over 10 years of experience, CECOSDA has developed proven expertise in environmental education, developing local solutions for empowering youth and women. Regarding donor project implementation, we have ethically, transparently, and successfully managed funding received from UNESCO, the International Organization of La Francophonie, the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), the Fondation de France, and the Schneider Electric Foundation.
We train women in green entrepreneurship and help them increase their income through marketing solar kits and other eco-friendly products at the last mile via the SolarDjangui initiative.
We promote local solutions such as manufacturing mobile solar generators and optimizing solar lamps for remote villages, with technical support from Schneider Electric.
We run a network of community journalists in Central Africa to highlight their profession and ensure village populations have access to information on education for sustainable development.
