About us

How we started

The Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) is a Cameroonian association, founded in 2012 by a multidisciplinary group of former comrades, under the leadership of two women.
Passionate about sustainable development issues, the group had decided to work together to help create a world where youth and women would play an active role in protecting the environment, empowering themselves and helping to reduce poverty in their communities. Since then, the team has worked determinedly to promote green entrepreneurship, train young people in solar energy and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), and apply the tools of Communication for Development (C4D) including implementing funded projects by donors to encourage sustainable alternatives, and help reduce poverty in Africa, starting with Cameroon..

Our Vision

Our vision is to become a leading NGO in the development of local solutions for a greener world, empowering women and young people. We aspire to have branch offices in all 10 regions of Cameroon and in every country of Central Africa, in order to have a significant impact on the sustainable development of the region.

CECOSDA is founded on 7 fundamental values, the first letters of which together form the word RESPECT. These values guide our actions and our commitment to our partners and beneficiaries, and enable us to contribute actively to sustainable and equitable development.

Experiences

The Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) is a Cameroonian association, founded in 2012 by a multidisciplinary group of former comrades, under the leadership of two women.
With over 10 years of experience, CECOSDA has acquired proven expertise in environmental education and the development of local solutions to empower young people and women. When it comes to implementing donor projects, we have managed funding received from UNESCO, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, the Agence Française pour la transition écologique (ADEME), the Fondation de France, and the Schneider Electric Foundation in an ethical, transparent, and successful manner. CECOSDA is an official partner of the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development, and Nature Protection (MINEPDED) and is approved by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP), for which CECOSDA is the official expert for drafting training guidelines for the waste and recycling worker sector. Regarding the organization's internal initiatives, CECOSDA is positioning itself as a key player in implementing local solutions for sustainable development through initiatives such as SolarDjangui, Equitable Energie, Cecosdaformation for green vocational careers, the network of green entrepreneurs in Cameroon, and the network of community journalists in Central Africa. SolarDjangui enables women to increase their income by marketing top-of-the-range solar kits throughout Cameroon, while Equitable Energie has a workshop manufacturing solar groups for donations to orphanages and other vulnerable groups. Cecosdaformation trains young people and women to become solar technicians, waste recycling workers, and green entrepreneurs to support the ecological transition. A particular source of pride lies in the training of young children in green jobs and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to raise their awareness of environmental protection and eco-innovative projects from an early age. This initiative, carried out during holiday periods since 2016, aims to prepare future generations to meet environmental challenges and promote sustainable development..
