Given the extent of the field of sustainable development, CECOSDA focuses on three key themes: environment, food security and water resources. The Centre therefor supports institutions, governments and other development partners involved in sustainable development projects, through actions of communication and awareness, while allowing those partners to capitalize their actions and to develop appropriate communication tools.
Water appears nowadays as a precious but overfished commodity, being subject to important stakes. Its scarcity and pollution put it at the deepcore of sustainable development issues. As far as sustainable development is concerned, CECOSDA is aimed on supporting actions on water resources protection and healthy and democratic access to all.
As mentioned by the FAO, environment, through its relations with sustainable agricultural development and food production is a huge challenge. Food security therefore encompasses accessibility, availability, quality and stability of food supply.
Environmental degradation’s effects (increase of natural disasters, increased flooding and drought, increased risks of conflictsrelated to the management of increasingly scarce resources...) are already evident and the emergency is to action. Climate change is another major threat to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. It is therefore urgent to promote through communication, an active synergy on preservation of humanity’s life and development frame.
